5 THINGS YOU DON'T KNOW ABOUT ME -
WHY THE CITY LIFE?
Well, yea, a little over three hours from the city is the perfect city life. It's nice to go in every now and then, when there's something or another you gotta do. But for the most part, the city life isn't for me. I like peace and quiet, a few good bars, lots of land and space. The hustle and bustle isn't my thing.
DESCRIBE THE PEOPLE OF YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD.
We're living on base now, so it's nice. Everyone's on the same page. Most of the guys are home for awhile, their wives and kids are here. You can trust the place, if that makes any sense. I know if I'm not here at least five other guys are looking out for Gemma and Alice, same could be said for theirs.
WHAT CHANGES HAVE YOU MADE IN THE PAST 5 YEARS?
I've got a wife and a daughter, substantial enough?
HOW CAN SOMEONE TELL IF YOU'RE LYING OR GUILTY?
One of boot camps first lessons, you can't.
DESCRIBE YOUR PERSONAL MORALS:
Treat people how you want to be treated, simple as that.
HOW MIGHT SOMEONE ATTRACT YOUR ATTENTION?
Calling my name is a good start?
ONE LOVES OR MANY LOVES? WHY?
Haven't really thought about it. One sounds about right though.
A FAVORITE KIND OF KISS?
Alice has perfected the eskimo kiss.
WOULD YOU RATHER RELIVE YOUR GREATEST MOMENT OR REDO YOUR WORST MISTAKE? EXPLAIN.
Redo my worst mistake. There's a lot I wish I could go back and change. Turned around a second sooner for Sammy, gone back for the fucker that shot him. I know I can't, but if I could, I would.

"Good old fashioned country folk."
My mom and dad were born in a small town in Oklahoma, both of their families lived on a farm, lived as simple as a life of it got. High school sweethearts, married straight after college graduation, the typical small town story it seems. My dad joined the Marines pretty much right after they got married, and they moved to the base. Over his second tour my mom got pregnant, then his third and his fourth with me and Cara. So I was about ten when I knew who my dad was, once he'd decided to quit touring. I think I was closer with my mom because of that, but that's not to say I didn't love my dad. I always respected him, more than that always wanted to be him. Everything I did kinda was to gain his respect. Joined the football team, swim team, lacrosse team, anything he wanted me to. Did the best at it, might I add. Turned into his favorite once I had enough trophy's and medals. But the Marines weren't really for him. The one bit of advice he gave me was to finish college first, so I did Boston for a second, a year, actually. Played college football, kept that same routine going, but school wasn't for me. So I guess I took the easy way out in a way, at least people say, and enlisted. I went through all of the training, eventually went out on my first tour.. After that I knew I wanted to be over there for good. The boys became my family, if one of us went down, we all did. So we did our second together. That was when I lost my best friend, Sammy, over there. Our base was raided in the middle of the night, they shot him first, but I didn't leave his side. None of us did. That's the kinda loyalty that comes with all of it, it's like nothing I've ever seen before in my life. And I'd be d**ned if I didn't finish it all out the way Sammy would have, and the way he'd want the rest of us too. Our Lieutenant didn't want me over there afterward, he wanted me to take some time after the tour was over, get some counseling or some @#%&*/-g bull nuts, lessen the anger and grief and whatever else he called it. I said no, but he left me with no other choice, marking me as inactive so I couldn't go on the next tour if I wanted to. I waited around for about eight months before I could go back. But in the meantime, I met a gamechanger. I wouldn't tell her that though, even if she's my wife now, because it would just feel forced. It all happened so fast. We met, would see each other all of the time, talk when we weren't together, and before I knew it we were seven months in and I was set to go back overseas. A few more months later, and she found out she was pregnant. I was stationed in Iraq, I only got to see her for two weeks out of the whole nine month pregnancy. She was six months in at that point and we had to make the two weeks work. I asked her to marry me the second I got off the plane, it wasn't the most romantic of gestures, it's not how I'd do it if I had more time, but it had to happen. We got married the following Tuesday, went to her doctors appointments the following day, I got to hear Alice's heartbeat for the first time. It was something completely out of this world. But I had to go back, and she had Alice. And I didn't get to come back for another year and a half. Even then, it was only for a few months. It's not the best feeling, meeting your own daughter when she's already a year and a half. So now it's all about making that time up, to Alice, and Gemma.
