Cynthia Rowley Fall 2013 Collection -
I joined the crew at Cynthia Rowley as soon as I graduated from FIDM in the Winter 2012. Weeks before my graduation, I was contacted by Cynthia Rowley and was offered a position as an intern. FIDM had sent over several of my designs to her office and offices of other designers but she was the first to contact me. Her assistant contacted me with a position as intern with the start date after the new year.  As soon as I was employed began the rules of an intern. I started from the bottom with getting coffee, assisting Cynthia's assistant and attending mandatory meetings. Hell Week or Fashion Week quickly approached on February 7th and it was worst week of my entire life. Every designer was in a horrible mood and Cynthia was stressed out. The show ended up going over well, I was able to help get the models dressed, repair outfits and put them in their line up. My dream job was coming alive but it was something I wasn't prepared for.

Dear Mom and Dad, 
Hi or as I should say, Bye. By the time that you guys read this letter, I'll be in New York City. This is the part where you'll scream, probably curse my name but you wouldn't understand. You'll never understand how much this is important to me. I know it's not what you guys had planned for me, but guess what? I got into FIDM. I'm going and I don't care what you guys think. They saw some of my 'silly' designs and were incredibly impressed. I turned in my deposit so I'm officially going. They offered me summer classes and with the money that I made working at uncle Calvin's restaurant I can pay for the summer classes. This was an opportunity that I couldn't turn away. I get that this is irresponsible but you know what I'm doing what you always told me to do as a kid. You always told Damon when he was in school, you always strive for what you love. Well I love this. Remember when Damon ran away to Grandma's house for a couple days? This is what I'm doing except I'll be gone for a couple months. It's extreme, but how else was I supposed to show you how much this meant to me? So I'm chasing my dream. Dad this is where you'll say that "Nat, this is 2008 and Fashion design is going to get you nowhere. You should get pursue a career in the medical field like your brother Damon blah blah blah." I can't do that Dad. I can't fake a big aspect of my life. One, I didn't get into the school I told you about. My math and science grades were too low. Liberty will be dropping off this letter. Don't be mean to her. I lied about spending the night at her house - well I did, but I lied about coming on Tuesday. She took me to the train station and made sure that I got in safely too. Please don't cry Mom, I know you are going to anyways but please know that I love you. Once I get to my dorm room, I'll call you or maybe it's best I don't call you for a little while just so you don't freak out on me. I love you guys so much and thanks for being my parents. I know now that I was your miracle baby, but it's time to let the miracle go. Tell Damon and Marjorie that I said hi. I'll give Damon the actual phone call about being safe. Damon knows where I'm going, he knows where to find me. Don't be angry at him either. He was only trying to help his baby sister out. Give Allison and Blake hugs for me. I love you guys so much. Don't be mad. I'll talk to you soon.
