5 THINGS YOU DON'T KNOW ABOUT ME -
WHY THE CITY LIFE?
I’ve lived here for quite some time, and even then I moved because I needed a change from the open aspects of my life but still wanted the kind of never ending freedom it provided, and the ability to stay passionate about whatever I wanted. The chic atmosphere of Los Angeles gives way to people wanting to be healthy, and enjoying the outdoors and the beach and staying active, things I believe to be important in life. I lived in hippie country (literally), and my parents were so dependent on these things, I guess I wanted to keep that together while still providing a great place for my daughter go grow up. Therefore, Los Angeles. Or the suburbs, technically.
DESCRIBE THE PEOPLE/FEEL OF YOUR BUILDING/NEIGHBORHOOD.
Well my home is quaint but in a homey way, not small way. And houses a pretty large backyard that backs up to even larger land and a small creek, which Marie and I like to fish in and explore in our free time. I can’t afford one of those sprawling beachside mansions but I’m completely ok with that, finding this neighborhood to be what I needed. A 20-minute drive from the city, local shops and stores in the surrounding area, friendly neighbors that tend to gardens and say excuse me when passing each other on the sidewalk. There are a lot of children so that means a lot of play dates and babysitters for Marie when I need them, and the general sweet camaraderie I’ve known my entire life. We’re happy here, so it’s fitting.
WHAT CHANGES HAVE YOU MADE IN THE PAST 5 YEARS?
Having a daughter really changes you, I think. Grew out of some rash decisions and took on full responsibility of her. It hasn’t been easy, as I was 20 years old and living off the land wasn’t going to cut it, but I worked through it. Made me stronger in a way, you know? I refuse to put up with bullshit these days, even if my demeanor has steadied out. Less about the wild impulses, more about the responsibilities to her and our life together and being a good example. At this point she’s the best new change about me, and I aim to keep her happy and healthy and my priority in life, along with my business. .
HOW CAN SOMEONE TELL IF YOU'RE LYING OR GUILTY?
I’m incapable of maintaining eye contact, therefore I’m an easy tell. I’m not the biggest fan of lying, considering it a cheat and cop out of the sorts, so I try to avoid it as best as I can. If I must it’s obvious, I wear it pretty blatantly on my face and usually busy myself with other things, turn away, avoid facing confrontation as it’s gotten me into trouble before. These days I just try to stay mellow and accept responsibility; it’s the right thing to do. No use lying when someone will figure it out eventually.
DESCRIBE YOUR PERSONAL MORALS:
Respect your elders and the knowledge they give you. Put others before yourself, tend to their needs if you can, be selfless. Lighten situations if you can, be free and tolerate other’s opinions, be open and accepting to any and all. Step in other’s shoes when you can’t understand their side, no one person is the same in the way they view things. Be the role model you’ve always wanted, practice what you preach…value the simplicities in life. Don’t restrict yourself when it comes to your passion…overall, love yourself and love what you do, and love it as deeply as you can or else you’ll fail to see the worth in it at the end.
HOW MIGHT SOMEONE ATTRACT YOUR ATTENTION?
I think a laugh is very important. One that’s rich and full of life, the loud ones, they attract my attention across rooms and distances; naturally draw me in. Then I want to know the joke, the company he’s entertaining, if they’re as interested or enraptured. I like a good extended invitation too, when you get roped into a game of pool with complete strangers. It’s very mysterious but fun at the same time, getting to know people you wouldn’t have otherwise.
ONE LOVES OR MANY LOVES? WHY?
Many loves, each as powerful and intimate as the next. I know some people are settled on forever, bound by what they think destiny or fate has settled for them, but being open to new experiences and those initial connecting feelings is always an astounding moment. Then it’s the connection, if it catches, going on dates and getting to know someone in and out before it grows or fades out. I’m never unhappy when things don’t work out, as that person will still always be remembered in some way with me. Certain cologne, a way of gesturing, even a drink order…each of these catch in me, finding myself mimicking them in unknowing moments, always a reminder that garnishes a smile.
A FAVORITE KIND OF KISS?
A kiss from my daughter, easily. When she’s sleepy on my shoulder and I turn to kiss her goodnight before bed and she kisses my cheek, or when she’s excited to see me after daycare, or on holidays, or when I ask for it. It’s the classic tiny hands on my cheeks, tiny lips on mine, an immense amount of love gushing through me every time I look at her. She’s beautiful and I can’t imagine life without her these days, reminded of how much I care about her within these sweet moments.
WOULD YOU RATHER RELIVE YOUR GREATEST MOMENT OR REDO YOUR WORST MISTAKE? EXPLAIN.
I don’t deal with regrets, as they damper your spirits. Therefore, I would love to relive my greatest moments any day. Though I’m not sure what they are, as many great things have happened to me over the course of these 24 years, I think I could go for a day curled up in bed with Marie, watching all these moments on a videotape. I’m sure giving birth to her would be included, of course, but among that my childhood was great, learning to accept myself was great, fighting my own battles was great…I’d love for someone else to pick these moments and show them to me, as I don’t think I could choose!

"My family is very free, if there’s ever a word to describe them. My parents are and forever will be hippies, enjoying the expansive lands in Canada and very happy with her cosmic love and the children they’ve created from it. They still tell us the stars created us to this day, though all of us are very thoroughly educated on the subject. They wanted us all to reach great educational understanding besides being spiritual, and have had valued and insightful support in each of our lifestyles. My siblings are less accepting of the practice, straying to the traditional views, my sister having cut much communication ever since her acceptance into architecture school in Arizona. My brother is michevious, which makes me think he still retains the spirit, but wishes to pursue sports of whatever fanciful thing he’s interested in in America. I love them all very much, even through the divides, and wish we could be together more often."
Work In Progress to be finished shortly.
