WHY THE CITY LIFE?

I got an amazing internship in the city after university that I couldn't really turn down. I'd wanted to work in broadcasting for a while but I'd never thought it would happen so soon. The city is great too. Great food, great shopping. There's always something to do. Having Ezra around isn't too bad either.

DESCRIBE THE PEOPLE/FEEL OF YOUR BUILDING/NEIGHBORHOOD.

Astoria is a neat little area. My friend at NYU bought a place out there after college and I'd always been super jealous of how big her apartment was even though her rent was ten times cheaper than mine back in Brooklyn. I could do without some of the annoying old people but other than that I'd say its a pretty quiet and safe space.

WHAT CHANGES HAVE YOU MADE IN THE PAST 5 YEARS?

Went to university, moved to the city and got engaged. None of those were ever planned but I can't complain too much about what's changed. Ezra makes me happier than anyone and i feel like I'm really starting to fit in here. Sometimes things just work themselves out.

HOW CAN SOMEONE TELL IF YOU'RE LYING OR GUILTY?

I'm not really sure... Sometimes I play with my hair too much or bite my lip. I don't think it would be that hard to tell.

DESCRIBE YOUR PERSONAL MORALS:

Make good decisions? I don't know. They've changed a lot.

"I'm one of two girls. Jen's always been closer with my mom and I'm much more of a daddy's girl. My mom and Marcus don't speak to me as much now that I'm in the city but we always seem to put on a happy face at thanksgiving and Christmas."

I wish I my twenty one years were more interesting. For starters I was born in upstate New York, Saratoga Springs to be specific. We lived in a college town for quite a few years there which left us with pretty limited things to do other than get cheap pizza and coffee. Although it made for a nice place to raise a family. It was quiet and everyone on our street knew each other. People would just drop by out of nowhere and I'd always come home to at least three neighbors sitting in our kitchen. So privacy was very limited, which was exactly how my parents wanted it.

Neurally they're protective people. Especially of their children. Having two girls was a challenge for them. Before we were born they'd been very ambitious people. My father had dreams of hosting his own late night show and my mother starting her own label in the city. But reality set in once Jen and I came around. They were struggling to take care of us in such a big city and eventually moved us back to my father's parents house until they found stable jobs in Saratoga Springs. Soon they came to love the city more than they thought they ever could and decided to stay.

Having family there and good jobs. It all seemed perfect. My parents were crazy in love then, which is still hard for me to comprehend but they would've done anything for each other in those days. Sweet, but it didn't last very long. My dad was moving up in his career and soon to manhattan at NBC. Elisha was having trouble raising us with him away. She had no clue how to do it on her own and turned to one of her best friends, Marcus for help. I was too young to understand what was really going on with them but I found out it she'd been seeing him from my father years later. By that point I'd just been a child who needed her mother, but all she cared about was this new guy. Jen always saw the best in him, one of the endless list of reasons that she is a fucking idiot. So I went to stay with my dad for a few years. Dad's are the best. Mine is for sure. With our mother off doing whatever he really looked out for me. Whatever I was going through he had the best advice and I was really glad to be there.

Then once it came time to look at schools I decided I wanted to follow in his footsteps and work in broadcast journalism. My mother pushed Skidmore but just the thought of going back there made me nauseous. After a million visits I chose Fordham. Being in the city seemed easy to me since I'd always been close, but college was kind of a nightmare. Definitely some of the best and worst times happened for me there. Mostly that was my own fault, always putting my relationships before anything else. It was hard for me to be single. I'd been in and out of relationships since I was fifteen, but I'd never thought of myself settling down. Ezra changed all that for me. After we met I'd felt something different than with the other losers I'd dated. We've had our ups and downs but we still managed to stay together. Now he's still working on his plays and I've got my first job in broadcasting. It all seems great but I just don't know if I can handle or all with my engagement.
