your signature: my grin. your coffee order: Straight, no sugar. your go-to magazine: Ultimate MMA. your favorite brand: I've got to say Armani, right? your ultimate goal: Keep going strong until I can't anymore.
I absolutely don't understand: people's concern over my career. I've always looked up to: my mother. I'm most likely to feud with: Jamie. I'm starting to pay attention to: My family's concerns. I've always wanted to hook up with: Megan Fox. I wonder what it's like to be: A-rod. He's screwed now.
"Do it because it's something you love. Don't do it to whoop other people's asses. It kind of backfires. "
what, if anything, keeps you grounded?
My family. They're always there when things get rocky.
would you rather relive your best moment or redo your worst mistake?
Relive my best moment. Can't say I'll ever get tired of being given that champion title.
where's your escape from the city?
I go to Barcelona when I need a break to visit some of my family over there. It's a beautiful place, really. I may retire there when I'm old and incapable.
what are you like when you're out of the spotlight?
Pretty much the same down-to-earth, compassionate guy you see in the spotlight. I don't change for cameras. I don't see the point in putting on a persona for my job.
how do you think your team would describe working with you?
They'd probably say it was an experience. I think I'm the calmest fighter they've encountered in a while, but at the same time I'm a completely different person in the cage. I take no prisoners.
were there any deciding moments in your career?
There's so many I can't even count. I think the first time I got recognized as a contender for the championship is when people really started to look at me as a threat.
any inside details on your latest project?
Now we both know I can't reveal that.
father: Rafael Bardem mother: Summer McKinley siblings: Jamie Bardem, Reina Bardem other: Mira Bardem, niece.
I was born in Texas with only knowledge of who my mother was, Summer McKinley. Back in Texas I was surrounded by family and no one spoke about anything pertaining to my father no matter if I was curious or not. I spent a lot of my time between Texas, Los Angeles, and Barcelona - sometimes with my mother and sometimes without her. It wasn't until I was a little older, seven I believe, that my mother started bringing me around her in Los Angeles permanently when she felt safer via Rafe's protection. Without knowing it I was around my father for quite some time before things came to light and we found out that we were actually father and son. Having grown up without one it was a strange thing for me to accept and, at this time, Rafe had already established a family with someone else. I grew spiteful, jealous, because I felt like I would never be at the top of his list of things that were important despite how openly he expressed it and at the same time acting so much like him only made it harder for everyone to ignore the truth. When I was seventeen, I was getting in trouble left and right for fighting and causing everyone grief. My mother was at her wits end. She didn't know what to do with a rebellious teenage boy anymore than any other single parent. However, one day she came to me with a speech that made me rethink everything that I had been going for. I was to either join the service or go to college - no ifs, ands, or buts about it. Obviously, I chose the latter with my mother convincing me that I was supposed to use my smarts to go into something that helped people. I had started taking MMA classes as a release and as a priviledge from my mother based on how I was doing in high school. At the end of my senior year, I got offered an opportunity to explore that option, but my mom made me deny it. She made me get a degree first to have something to fall back on if anything were to happen and, realizing the logic, I went about doing such. I went into medicine, the trauma unit, as ironic as it was and trained in my spare time. When I graduated college in a degree in tactical Combat Casualty Care in the Trauma Unit, she stopped bothering me and I got to start my passion in MMA. It was something I enjoyed from the very start and I moved well in the ranks from sheer talent alone. As you can clearly see, it's been a nice road for me. A couple of years ago I was in a relationship with a woman named Asia. We were good together and I loved her. How couldn't i? She was having my child. However, she had this distinct issue with my career and in the end things didn't work out like either of us hoped. She lost the baby and disappeared from my life when I wouldn't quit MMA. So, I moved from where I had relocated in Ibiza back to Los Angeles and got back right in to things here.
