currently being spun on my ipod blackberry stone by laura marling | tickle me pink by johnny flynn | agape by bear's ben | life is hard by edward sharpe and the magnetic zeros | road regrets by dan mangan | red heart by hey rosetta! | feel the tide by mumford and sons my greatest influenceMy mother taught me three things before her death. Grace, intellect, and gratitude. To handle myself with grace, offer an open mind as well as wisdom toward life, and treat others with love, kindness and generosity, as I myself would be wanted to be treated. My mother raised me to be vulnerable, spontaneous in being. She showered me with wholeheartedness, but refrained from holding my handle and making me hers. She so very much wanted me to be my own person, she questioned my opinion but she didn't try change it. There was no religion in our household, but an underlining of belief, spirituality.. which is personal, much more than religion. My mother was passionate in every way, she was passionate in love, passionate in her beliefs, in history, in her speech. She was such a generous human being, when she died I thought she was being called to be an angel, I think this positive thinking helped me get through the pain of losing her.
Claire Marling, my greatest influence. My voice cracks in my passion, it's loud, I stomp, I clap, and I don't care, I love my cause. I was taught not to be embarrassed of the way I feel, I was taught universal love, spirituality, and peace. I was taught that I shouldn't be afraid. I'm a girl, I don't brush my hair, sometimes I forget to shave my legs, and I drink my tea cold. Go away if you think I care, you're not going to make me feel weird. Wear what you want, say what you want, do what you want, because the only thing that's holding you back from living without inhibition is what you think everyone else will think of you. Mum taught me that the shackles are invisible, that all it takes is a little bit of power to set yourself free.
